U.B.C.

UBC is now a big part of the largest pro dealer in the nation, ProBuild. In February of 2006, Fidelity Capital and  The Lanoga Corporation closed the deal on the acquisition of Lanoga. Fidelity's acquisition of Lanoga Corp. combined two leading pro dealers (Lanoga and Strober) to form what is now the nation's largest professional building materials supplier - ProBuild.

To recap, 2005 was marked by many acquisitions, most of which involved UBC, and included Bernco, Inc. of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Central Kansas Truss of Kansas, Parker Lumber of Texas, Carter Lee Lumber of Indiana, and Plumb Building Systems of Iowa and North Dakota. With 2006 came Lanoga's purchase of the Irvington Division of Trussway (renamed Shafer Building Supply and operating under Home Lumber). Lanoga also purchased F.E. Wheaton & Co. of the Chicago metropolitan area. Parker Lumber, mentioned above, acquired Bracht Lumber of Texas. UBC  acquired Wolohan's of Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Fidelity Capital was working on the purchase of Lanoga. If this seems like a lot is happening...that's because there is! The map above may help you understand and visualize the ProBuild area of operation.

So what does this mean to you, our builder customer? UBC is a large company with tremendous buying power, and yet it operates its facilities somewhat independently with almost a "mom and pop" atmosphere - and now it is a big part of the largest pro dealer in the nation. UBC is a very stable company whose foundation was solidly built on honesty, integrity, quality products and outstanding service. Learning, taking and sharing the best practices from each acquisition and from our sister companies has been key to our tremendous growth, and as a result, you get the best of ALL worlds.
